The second semester usually begins around the 2nd or 3rd week of September and finishes at the end of January. Please try and arrive in the first week of April or September. A coordinator in the international affairs office will contact you by email and get detailed information about your arrival.

When you arrive in Sendai we can pick you up at Tohokufukushidaimae Station if you come on Monday-Friday between 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. If you arrive outside of this time, you will need to find accommodations to stay at until we can pick you up. If your flight gets delayed or there is an emergency, please contact your coordinator or contact the international office. The telephone number and email address are at the top of this document.

Resident Card and Other Paperwork

You will need to acquire a Resident Card to live in Japan. If you do not have one, we will assist you in getting one. We will set up a day in the first week of your arrival to apply for Resident Cards and do other paperwork such as national insurance required by Japanese law. We will inform you of the date after we get your flight information.

Upon arrival, you will receive a student I.D. card. The photo you sent with the application will be used for your I.D.

International students will have a guidance meeting at the beginning of the semester. We will let you know about the schedule when you arrive. At this meeting, we will discuss things such as the dormitory rules, the school year, life in Sendai, and schedule classes for the semester.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us through your institution’s international office or directly.
